Beginning Snorkeling Class begins in Bali. Continues in Wakatobi. Fewer classes in this Beginning class than in Hawaii (one each day, approximately).

Deposits
Deposits are nonrefundable after MSI commits funds to the trip, October 10, 2007: our trip depends on yours. If for some reason MSI must cancel trip due to low registration, all monies will be refunded at time of cancellation and no later than February 12, 2008.
Bali: Nonrefundable $200; balance due Feb. 10.
Wakatobi: Nonrefundable $650; balance due Feb. 10.
Combined Bali and Wakatobi:
Nonrefundable $850; balance due Feb. 10.
Proof of travel insurance required by October 15, 2007. We've had good experience with Access America, 1-800-284-8300.

Melon will divide her time between diving and snorkeling: one of each, each day unless students take a day off. Divers can dive up to 3 times per day.

Wakatobi upgrades available: Beach Bungalow, add $270 per person double occupancy; Select Bungalow, add $570 ppdo; Wakatobi Villas, add $870 ppdo. Descriptions coming.

Single occupancy: in garden bungalow is +$1693.
Single occupancy Beach Bungalow: +$1903.

Dive course requirement: must be able to swim 200 meters of any stroke or combination of strokes or (lack of strokes) continuously, i.e. not touching the edge of the pool. Goggles okay; no fins. No time limit ;-).

Wakatobi
Wakatobi's reef is so well protected and in such good condition that dive courses are not offered here
in order to protect the reef! The diversity is so plentiful that you just may be spoiled from diving anywhere else, according to independent reports. Beginner and intermediate (and advanced) levels of diving are all available. Do one, two, three or zero dives each day, as you please. Rent equipment there if you wish. MSI will dive at least one dive per day unless the group takes a day off.

Snorkeling Vacation Next Step Class Bali, and Wakatobi Dive Resort
"Reef Without Equal"
May 19-30, 2008

Snorkel the "house reef" just outside our door, and go with divers on the boat out to relatively shallow reefs that divers dive. These are the diverse waters of the marine park surrounding Wakatobi.

This class is for people who have taken our Snorkeling Beginning class, or SCUBA course. While there will be review of ocean swimming and snorkeling and a Snorkeling Next Step class, this trip is not a Snorkeling Beginning class. Snorkeling Next Step Class description

Take the Snorkeling Next Step class if you would like to get more experience and expand your confidence and skills to more beaches and water entries, water conditions, and possibly swimming with dolphins. Extra excursions may cost extra.

Bali and Wakatobi
Snorkelers' Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Bali
Transfer to Ubud
Accommodation in Champlung Sari, Ubud

Day 2 Land Tour in and around Ubud
Visiting temples, woodcarvers, and other attractions
Visit to traditional dance performance in evening
Accommodation in Champlung Sari, Ubud

Day 3 Check out
Morning tour of mountains
Snorkeling in afternoon
Arrival in Tulamben
Accommodation in Mimpi Resort Tulamben

Day 4 Snorkeling day at Tulamben (USAT Liberty wreck)
Accommodation in Mimpi Resort Tulamben

Day 5 Transfer back to South Bali
Accommodation in Wida Hotel

Day 6 Transfer to airport for Wakatobi flight

Day 6-13 Wakatobi Dive Resort, Sulawesi, Indonesia: includes airfare, transfers, lodging, all meals, diving, and snorkeling

Day 13 Transfer from Wakatobi to Bali and Bali to Hong Kong or Singapore (for most flights, depending on your arrangements).

Day 14 Fly home.

Divers' Itinerary: Same as above plus 7 days of dive course starting at Day 4. On Day 11, transfer from Bali to Wakatobi. Fly home on Day 18. If you go to Hong Kong or Singapore on the way home, this may add a day.
