Utila, Honduras Dive and Snorkel Vacation
March 20-26, 2010
Join us for a trip to Utila at the peak of Whale Shark season to see the "big boys:" 15-50 feet. Yes, they're herbivorous: they eat plankton, like other big boys, manta rays and many whales.
Enjoy diving, in control. On MSI dive trips, we choose pleasant resorts in great dive locations and we dive slowly, making sure all of your concerns are reviewed and handled satisfactorily.
Snorkelers who have taken MSI's Snorkeling class may also take this vacation to snorkel the Caribbean and see the whale sharks. We'll continue to learn, as we would in a Next Step Snorkeling class, and build on what you learned in Hawaii.
Divers will have the opportunity to dive up to 3 times per day. Snorkelers will snorkel the "house reef" and go out on the dive boats to snorkel shallow reefs when the divers are below. Snorkelers can go out on the boat twice per day as part of your package. Melon will divide her time between divers and snorkelers, depending on the group that takes the trip. This worked great in Indonesia in 2008.
There will be no PADI dive course or Beginning snorkeling course on this trip. You'll continue learning naturally, but we won't start from the beginning.
Price: $1795 plus air fare to Utila, Honduras.
$1695 plus air fare if you register by December 21, 2010.
Four student minimum needed by January 5. Deposit: $675 nonrefundable after December 26.

Air fare is currently $920 from SFO, $820 from LAX, and $810 from Tampa. (Maybe we should all drive!) Our tour operator will book for you. Prices are likely to rise. We should buy tix soon.
At resort, travelers checks are recommended, as the resort charges 7% extra for credit card charges.
RESORT and details
Laguna Beach Resort Resort Capacity: 40 people. On the secluded island of Utila, the Bungalow rooms are all set over a mangrove lagoon, perfect for a view of the beautiful Caribbean sunset. Your front door is steps from the pool and beach. With all the comforts of home, each room has a spacious bathroom with hot water shower, ceiling fans and air conditioning, 110 volt current, private porch, and pier.
Duplex Bungalows
Duplex bungalows are two totally separate accommodations under one roof. These rooms share a pier and each have a small porch.
All packages include:
- 6 nights /7 days Bungalow, double occupancy.
- 3 meals daily
- Horseback riding and unlimited use of kayaks
- R/T transportation from Utila's Airport/Resort
- Flight confirmation
- Reef tax
Diver package includes: 5 days three boat dives, 2 night boat dives per week, unlimited shore dives, tanks, weights & belts.
Snorkeler package includes: Fish & Coral underwater ID cards, 2 snorkel trips daily by boat with guide, reef ecology lecture & fish ID slide show, 1 night snorkel and all above except diving.
Vacationer package (for guests who don't dive or snorkel) price is $1275 and includes: All of the items under "All packages Include." If you have a guest who dives or snorkels but who has not taken MSI's classes, they may travel and vacation with us, however, they wouldn't be under MSI's purview in the water.
Not included: Airline tickets, bar tabs, soft drinks, gratuities, incidentals, equipment rental and special request expenses. Honduran government. tax, currently $35: this tax can change anytime!
