Becoming a Spotter (Volunteer Class Assistant)

Once you've taken the Beginning or Next Step swimming classes, you may say to yourself, "If I can do it, anyone can do it. I want to help others learn this. If I assist I'll improve my own skills. I want to be a spotter."

This requires learning the MSI system from the teacher's perspective. Some of our spotters have gone on to become instructors of our classes. We have shallow-end spotters and deep-end spotters. You first job is to take care of yourself: spot in the part of the pool where you're completely comfortable.

Email us if you are a MSI graduate and you'd like to be a spotter.

"The best swim class I have ever taken."
Liz Gebhardt, CA

"My swimmer self is bursting out of me!"
Diana Quintal, CA

"If I had enough pennies, or lived in Berkeley, I'd continue taking classes."
Theresa Cirnigliaro, NY
