Online Conquer Fear Instructor Training
Online Course
30 hours/16 lessons online. Expected course time: 6-8 weeks. Want to get started before the course, read our book and see our DVD (required). Half the cost of the book and DVD (or video) will be credited toward your training fee. If you wish to have a hard copy of the online training, add $70 to your cost at Checkout.
Only $795, $865 if you want a hard copy.
For instructors who do not plan to attend the hands-on 2 day training. Add-on hands-on training is $400 for the 2-day, $1300 for the 6-day training. Three CEUs (Continuing Education Units) available from the University of Maine: add $25
Allow 5-6 weeks to complete your 16 lessons online before arriving at your Hands-on training. This learning requires reflection time. Your password is good for three months, so you can start early and have plenty of time before we meet.

Our new trainings benefit the International Swimming Hall of Fame in a new partnership between ISHOF and MSI. The Hall of Fame's goal is that everyone learn to swim. It chose MSI to fulfill the part that's our area of expertise: afraid students who haven't learned in traditional lessons: 64% of American adults, and unknown numbers of children.
Then, on to the rest of the world.
Our online training covers all the material taught in the full training except experiencing our system live and trying it with supervision. The live training accounts for about 1/3 of the learning. There's plenty of video. If, after you take the online training you wish to upgrade to the full training or the blended training, you may do so by simply paying the difference between the two trainings, if you decide to upgrade within 1 week of submitting your last Lesson Review. Afterward, upgrading costs an extra $100.

To receive a Certificate of Completion, all Lesson Reviews must be answered 95% correctly; you demonstrate an understanding of the material, and in the case of opinion questions, you fully participate in the "dialog" that's set up in the training. In other words, you will have responded as though you were in a live class having a discussion. You'll receive your Certificate of Completion upon submitting your last Lesson Review successfully.
The online training is not printable for any level of licensing. Blended training students receive a hard copy of the Instructor Manual at the hands-on training. To receive the instructor manual which includes the Beginning Class Student Handbook, order it once you know you will teach Miracle Swimming classes. This arrangement is made due to the interest of some trainees who wish to take the online training but not teach, and therefore don't need the manual. The manual costs $70.
CEUs
At this time, we anticipate that 3 CEUs will be available for completing this training. (Continuing Education Units)
Licensing
The Licensing Agreement will be sent to you before your online training ends.
"My two little 4-year olds that I have been using the "method" on are both putting their faces in the water and floating on their backs!! The serious one has yet to smile, but the other one was laughing up a storm today! Way too awesome...
Thanks, Melon!!

"You'll never teach the same way again once you've taken this training."

Educational, enlightening, fulfilling. I would love to do something similar anytime possible! It allows you a different outlook on how people feel, learn, prosper, and grow naturally."
—Malari McMurtery, Bubbles to Butterfly Swim School
Licensing Agreement
The licensing agreement says, in summary:
- You as an instructor will take the online training.
- You teach 3 Beginning classes, minimum, in the first year, to practice what you learned: much is learned by teaching.
- Once you've taken the training and taught 3 Miracle Swimming Beginning classes in 12 months, you become a Level C licensed instructor. Until then, you're a trained instructor. You need to keep teaching it to keep learning the material and stay fresh. Licensing level may be upgraded based upon upgraded training, high teaching frequency and excellent student feedback.
- The licensing fee is $200/year per instructor, payable May 1. It's included in the training fee for the first year. We recommend that each instructor pay his/her own licensing fee.
- 10% of gross revenues of your Miracle Swimming classes goes back to MSI/ISHOF.
- The course material is proprietary: you may not license someone else to teach it but you may inform your staff of the principles so they may use them. You may not sell it or give it away to anyone.
- Books and DVDs and Student Handbooks are purchased from MSI/ISHOF (the source) at wholesale prices
- In locations where there is currently a swim school that teaches exclusively Miracle Swimming, there will be a 15 mile buffer around that school as a protected MSI-territory. Currently these locations are: Brandon, FL, and Berkeley, CA.
- In locations where there's an MSI-licensed or trained instructor, there will be a 15 mile buffer around that school as a protected MSI-method territory unless those schools welcome the training of additional instructors in their territory. Currently these locations are: Dallas, TX, West Sacramento, CA, Seattle, WA, Bowie, MD, London, England, Redondo Beach, CA, Mill Valley, CA.
- As of September 1, 2008, newly trained instructors, which may number many in one city, will have no protected territory (because YMCAs and municipalities will need multiple MSI trained instructors).
- The purpose of the agreement is to make sure all instructors are teaching the same thing, to protect the proprietary nature of the training, to structure support for the global reach of ISHOF and MSI's program and to make this material available to every swim student in the world.
- Once licensed, you may indicate your desire to travel to teach MSI classes in other locations.
You may train also to teach our freestyle, snorkeling and scuba classes.
"Why I Love Teaching Miracle Swimming "
—Cori Myka, Owner, Orca Swim School, Seattle

Cori, left. Melon, right. Students who never would have been
underneath anyone in the water before, underneath.
When I was teaching a private lesson to an afraid adult today I had remarkable new learning for myself as I watched the leaps in learning my student was having. Driving home I was thinking about how I have been teaching MSI for 4 years and am still learning and discovering. I have been a great teacher these 4 years, yet still I'm able to learn and discover with my students. The more I get present to the teaching, the more learning I gain. With other teacher trainings I have felt I needed to get the drills, games, and tricks and it will help my teaching and then that's the end. I am left with wondering if someone else has a better game or drill I should be learning. I feel stifled in that learning. With MSI I get to continually learn while practicing the method of teaching... or rather the method of learning. After 4 years I get it (again)!
Thanks, Melon.
