PADI Basic Open Water Certification course, the MSI Way

Course fee includes: dive course and dive equipment except for mask, fins, snorkel which you should purchase. USMS membership for 2011 is $37, extra unless you're a current member. Hotel extra. Let us know what you prefer and we'll make recommendations and/or reservations for you. Price range: $90-$200/night, near pool or at the beach. Rental car advisable.

After you register, a list of items to take to the class will be sent along with information about purchasing snorkeling gear (mask, fins, snorkel).

Once you register, we'll direct you to purchase the online "e-learning" course through our dive shop in Sarasota. Minimum class size 4 by August 1. There are 2 in it now.

Due upon registration is $150 nonrefundable deposit for the course. The balance will be charged to your credit card July 10, 2011. As of July 10, the full course fee is nonrefundable. The Key Largo hotel fee is refundable until September 11. The $150 deposit will be charged at Checkout, though it will say the full amount will be charged. We recommend that you purchase trip insurance within two weeks of registering to cover surprise cancellations. We've had good experience with Access America, 1-800-284-8300. Arrange your own air fare to Sarasota or Tampa. Plan your flight after 12 noon on the 18th if you're leaving after the course. See the medical form before signing up for the course. Please ask us to send it.

Option: Stay for the dive vacation at John Pennecamp State Park (Marine Preserve) in Key Largo after you're certified. This is the best way to get dive experience while the information and skills are fresh, and to take your diving above student level. It makes a big difference in building your confidence to dive again on regular charter dives.

Dive vacation for certified divers: September 18 - 24. Dive days September 19-23. $2497 includes 6 night's hotel single occupancy at Ocean Pointe Suites.; 5 days of 2-tank diving with divemaster with Quiescence; transportation to dives and to Key Largo from Sarasota or Miami. One night dive is extra and optional ($75). Arrange your own air. Depart from Miami after 12 noon on September 24 or from Sarasota after 5 p.m. September 24. A friend/spouse accompanying you, if not in class, pays a guest fee of $150 to share transportation, etc. We will drive newly certified students from Sarasota to Key Largo. If you fly into Miami for the dive vacation, we can pick you up in Miami. All divers are included in class transportation costs.
